1936 Five Window Coupe - Classic Street Rod- Automatic, Power Disk Brakes, Rack & Pinion Steering, Stainless Steal Exhaust, V-8 Flathead/ 3 Deuces/ Offenhauser Heads.
I have owned this little coupe for over 40 years. First restoration was of a simi-original nature. But I found, over the years, that it was not practical because everywhere we go now a days is on the expressway. The next restoration was a \"Frame Off \" I kept the Flathead engine and had it bored out and modified the way the did in the old race car days. I also added the multi-spark ignition and an electronic distributor. I had a C-F transmission rebuilt and modified with a \"Shift Kit\" then got the mustang steering and disk brakes with a Granada rear end. I set it up with the 3-Deuce carburetor system for looks. It has the linkage and all but I never ran it on that set up. I use the center carburetor only which gives me 18 mpg. This all allowed me to cruise the expressway at 70mph with no problems. I also left off the side engine panels to allow people to see the engine. There is a light up under the hood that puts a glow on the engine when the headlights are on. I have the finished louvered panels but have never used them. It also allows the engine keep cooler even though it is equipped with a thermostat controlled electric fan. It also keeps me from having to open the hood to allow people to see the engine. Having the \"Flathead\" is a big plus at car shows.
This has been a fun car for me and my family. Raising both my child and our grandchildren in it. But my time has past. The car mostly sits now. In the 20 plus years sense it\'s last restoration I have put a little over 16,000 miles on the car. The pictures you see are recent pictures. This car has never seen rain or even been washed. It has always been garaged and covered. Anytime it was taken out it was wiped down with \"Perfect Detail\" I can send you more pictures of any detail you want to see. Very few road chips in the paint, no dents or door dings. This is an all metal car, other than minor refinishing bond-o to smooth down the surface. No indication that it had ever been in an accident. It was finished in a Base Coat - Clear Coat 1994 Corvette Pearl Red color.
Faults:1) If you leave the battery connected (Has a quick disconnect set up) it will drain down over a two week period.2) There are some minor stress cracks by the rumble seat opening. From what I have seen this is a common problem. Not serious but a flaw just the same.3) The paint on the dash board separated and cracked around a seam. I was going to send it out and have it done in a wood grained look but never got around to it. Again no big deal(only one place) but a flaw.4) The old time Oil Filter is on the car for looks. It was added years after the restoration and is made to look connected but is not. This was never a problem for me because I only drove the car less than 1,000 miles each summer. I simply changed the oil each year at the start of the season.5) The rear main does leak oil. Again a common problem for the Flat Head engine. It has the old rope style seal. They now make a neoprene seal that stops this problem. But again it was no big deal for me and not worth my time to replace it.
If there is anything you need to know that would help you decide to purchase this \"Little Deuce Coupe\" please put it in the question box and I will respond.
