THIS IS A LOCALLY OWNEDSOUTHERN CALIFORNIA 1955 OLDSMOBILE 88. IT WAS GARAGED DURING MOST OF ITSLIFE AND WAS WELLMAINTAINED!
UNTIL RECENTLY, THIS OLDSMOBILEWAS USED AS A DAILY DRIVER. HAD THEGENTLEMAN OWNER NOT TAKEN ILL, THIS OLDS WOULD NOT BE ON THE MARKET!
THIS 1955 OLDSMOBILE ISA LOT OF CAR FOR THE MONEY. IT IS THE PERFECT CAR FOR SOMEONE WHO WANTS A NICE VINTAGE CAR THEY CAN DRIVE.
WHILE THIS OLDS IS NOT A TRAILER QUEEN, IT IS VERY PRESENTABLE. IT IS MOSTLY ALL ORIGINAL WITH NEEDED WORKHAVING BEEN DONE THROUGH THE YEARS. FOREXAMPLE, THE CAR HAS HAD ONE ORIGINAL COLOR REPAINT, SOME CHROME WAS REDONE,AND THE UPHOLSTERY AND POSSIBLY THE HEADLINER ALSO REDONE AT SOME TIME. ALSO, AT SOME TIME A NEW SET OF 7.50 15 GENERALDUAL-90 WIDE WHITE WALL TIRES WAS INSTALLED.THEY HAVE SO LITTLE WEAR THAT THEY STILL SHOW THE NUBS ON THE TREAD.

THIS 1955 OLDSMOBILE 88 IS POWERED BY ITS 323 CU IN V-8 ENGINETHAT DELIVERS 185 HP @ 4,000 RPM AND 320 LB.-FT. OF TORQUE @ 2,000 RPM, AND HYDRA-MATICAUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION.
THIS 88 ALSO HAS POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. IT HAS PLENTY OF POWER AND APPEARS TO BE INEXCELLENT MECHANICAL CONDITION!

THIS 1955 OLDSMOBILE IS ACALIFORNIA CAR THAT HAS BEEN WELL CARED FOR THROUGH THE YEARS.ALLTHE MECHANICALS AND GAUGES OPERATE PROPERLY.
It is often very difficult to describe every detail of the condition of anunrestored vehicle. This 1955 Oldsmobileis 62 years old and naturally shows some signs of age.I can’t listevery single little thing, but I’ll try to give you a clear picture of theoverall condition. While the repaint isolder, it still has a very good shine.Of course, there are some small chip color matching touch-ups that have been done throughthe years. The chrome may or may nothave been re-chromed at some time. Thereare some places that have pealed and those places have been touched up withsilver “chrome” paint. There is a smalldimple dent to the rear bumper on the passenger side and there are indentationscaused by the rear bumper below the back-up lights. The gaps between the front bumper ends andthe body is more than it should be.There is a small area at the lower rear of the right front fender wherethere is bubbling under the paint. Theback of the hood on the passenger side is slightly raised when the hood isclosed, but I think this is just an adjustment.Looking down the sides of the car, the body looks straight with noobvious signs of any body repair that I can see. Overallthe exterior gives a very presentable impression.
The interior gives the appearance of a well maintained originalinterior. The dash pad and the headlinerappear near new. There is a 7” openingto the seam on the driver’s side seat back that can easily be repaired by any autoupholstery shop, and the cloth portion of the driver’s side front seat upholsterycould use a cleaning. The remainingupholstery is nice. The interior paintedsurfaces show some age, especially on the driver’s door and the top of theglove box. As is often the case in carsof this age, the radio comes on but does not play. There is another radio in the trunk, but I have no idea if that one works.The carpet has seen better days and does havea small bare spot just in front of the heal pad, and the driver side kick panelis pealing.
Bottomline is that this is a very nice California Black-Plate Olds 88 with no knownmechanical issues.
