Beautiful Colonial White, Tuxedo Black and White interior 1956 Ford Thunderbird. Best year for the \"small birds\". The beautiful look of the first, 1955 design, but with the kinks worked out, and extra styling panache by the boatload. From Automotive Mileposts:
\"In its second year, the trend-setting Thunderbird introduced two of its most memorable and endearing styling features: the port windows (portholes) in the hard top, and the rear spare tire carrier (Continental kit).
Both of these items were introduced for practical reasons, the port windows to improve vision out of the car and the rear spare tire carrier to increase luggage space in the trunk.\"
This car received a body off the frame restoration, painted in its original Colonial White, perhaps the most iconic color for these great cars...the exact car that Suzanne Sommers drove in American Grafitti..for those old enough to remember.
This is a well-optioned car, equipped with the following:Thunderbird Special V-8 Engine (312 CID)* ($123)
Chrome Engine Dress-Up Kit* ($25)
Ford-O-Matic Drive ($215)
Full-Flow Oil Filter ($9.15)

Special Fuel and Vacuum Pump Unit ($11.70)
Back-Up Lights ($8.50)
Lifeguard Padded Instrument Panel* ($22.65)
Lifeguard Padded Sun Visors* ($9)
Lifeguard Seat Belts* ($14)A beautiful running and driving car. I drove it from Austin to College Station on December 8th at 75 MPH...cruised like a champ. This is a turn key car you can get in and enjoy...its fast, comfortable and stunningly beautiful.
In addition to the body off frame paint job of a rust-free Texas car, many interior and exterior trim items that showed some age were also replaced. Brand new Wire Wheel type hub caps, new correct 2 11/16th\" wide white bias ply Firestone tires, and many other improvements.
The car is available for viewing in College Station, TX.

I\'ve had a couple of questions about the history of the car, its equipment and cosmetic state.First, it was ordered new without the canvas convertible top. These can be ordered here on EBay for around $2300.00...just do a search and you\'ll find a seller who makes a superior convertible top. Second, while the car is beautiful and presents well, it is not a show car. It has very nice, recent paint, but the chrome on the bumpers is a little weak, and to be taken to the next level, they should be done.Third, a little history on the car: I bought this car at the Leake Auction in Dallas about six weeks ago. It was poorly presented for auction...wrong tires, cheap hubcaps, some easily fixed things.I called the previous owner, but he was completely uncooperative. He was irate at the auction company who had advised him to do a \"no-reserve\" auction, and would not tell me anything about the car, and hung up on me...LOL.I did find his insurance documents in the car from Hagerty, and he had the car insured for $45K, so I figure he lost a good bit on the car. Consequently, I don\'t know when the car was restored, or by whom, or what if any mechanical work was done. It was listed on the auction documents as a \"frame off\" restored car, though. The paint is done to a quite high standard, but, I just don\'t have any more information. Likewise, the engine runs great, sounds great and the car drives very well. Could use a little adjustment on the brakes, which pull slightly, but the car is still easy and pleasurable to drive as it is.I bought the car, put on the correct tires and the much better looking wire hubcaps, replaced many of the trim bits that looked a bit tired, cleaned up the engine bay and replaced some of the items that were showing their age, etc.I had it previously listed with a BIN of $37K where I think the market is for similar cars, but I need the space and am now offering it at a BIN of just about what I have in the car.If you look at other Birds for sale I think you\'ll agree that this represents a great value. Please come and look at the car in person and drive it...I\'m sure you\'ll agree. Thanks for your interest.
