Up for auction is a very nice, original South Carolina 1962 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight Town Sedan. The car runs and drives extremely well and has recently had a new master cylinder installed as well as new tires and a power steering hose. This car was purchased new in Spartanburg, SC in November 1961 and has been in the original family until recently. The original owner had the car repainted about ten years ago and had all of the side trim removed for the repainting. For some reason, only about half of the trim was reinstalled, although all of the trim is in the trunk as well as the rocker mouldings. I purchased about 80 trim clips for having the trim reinstalled, but they seem to be too large for use on this car. There are a few minor rust issues with paint bubbles noted on the right rear fender and chrome plating popping off on the top of the rear bumper. There is also paint flaking in a small area on the bottom of the left rear door.

The interior of the car is original, with worn fabric seat inserts in the front seat, although the rear seat is in excellent condition, as well as the door panels. The package shelf behind the back seat is faded in several areas, but it is not warped or broken. The driver\'s door armrest is in the trunk as well as the rear door window cranks. I do not know why they were removed and not reinstalled. The carpeting is faded, but it is intact. The dash pad has several cracks, which is typical of southern cars of this vintage. This car has many factory options which are noted on the original window sticker from the rear window when it was purchased from the dealer. Among the options are six-way power seat, power steering, power brakes, wonder-bar radio with power rear-mounted antenna, autronic eye headlight dimmer, power trunk release, custom wheel discs with matching white striping, factory blue Oldsmobile rubber floor mats, door-mounted sun visors, and safety-sentinal buzzer. The car did not come with factory air-conditioning, but the original owner had a Sears under-dash mounted unit installed shortly after purchasing the car (it still works perfectly). The radio works well, but the power antenna does not work. The windshield wipers are not working and neither is the power seat. The original owner\'s manual and buyer protection plan booklet are in the glove compartment. All the glass is intact with no cracks or discoloring, and the original blue headliner is intact with no discoloration or tears.
