My 63 Buick Skylark Convertible has 95,140 meticulouslymaintained, garaged miles. Within thelast few years it has the following: New Paint, trim removed and polished whenpainted, new top and boot, new top motorand hydraulic lines, new tires and new spare tire, rubber trim, rebuiltcarburetor, transmission removed, checked and resealed, engine (215 V-8)checked out (good compression) with new valve cover gaskets and tuned up, new exhaustsystem, new brakes, cylinders and brake lines, all new bulbs, horn, and lenscovers, etc. Well over $10k invested(not counting value of the car itself). Around 2k miles per year on averagedriven on pretty days only throughout the life of the car. Receipts, manuals included.This car is very solid. The interior is original and the driver’s seat needsattention.
The 63 Skylark Convertible was a rare, one year body stylewith under 9k produced (around the same amount as the 1956 Chevy Nomad). Thefamous Bulletproof 215 engine is a pleasure to drive, along with automatic,smooth shifting transmission. My engine is the sought after (JN code) 215 withhigh compression and 4-barrel carburetor. British Rover bought the rights tothis engine and used it 40 years. Top works beautifully. Everything works, even the original radio. It’sa blast to drive; no squeaks or rattles, only Buick comfort.
My wife and I actually dated in a 63 Skylark convertible 50years ago! Awesome cars. Unfortunately,I must sell mine due to my loss of garage space and I am unwilling to park itoutside.
