We are a small body/mechanical shop in the heart of Indiana. We have been working on, rebuilding, restoring classic American muscle cars for 35 years. We do this as a hobby because we love cars. Today we are listing a few that we have completed and are ready for their new homes.
Up for auction today is most likely the last and probably the nicest 1964 Galaxie 500XL that we have had. We have done three of these cars in the last couple of years and they are just getting too hard to find. This one is my personal favorite. We did this one the EXACT right way.
This car came from an older Ford collector in Southern MI who has some cool cars. He had another completely restored Galaxie and had decided to sell us this one. It needed some work but was not a total restoration case. In additon to the XL package, it also sports power steering and power brakes.
This car came from the factory as an X code (352 V8) and an auto transmission. We had located the complete drivetrain from a 1964 Galaxie Z code (390) and a 4 speed transmission. We completely rebuilt everything and installed it in this car. The engine was bored .030 over making the engine a 410 CI displacement. The 4 speed was gone through along with rebuilding the factory shifter. This rare 4 speed option makes this car truly unique. We also rebuilt and installed the 9\" for rearend which sports a set of 3.50 gears. the 390 has a nice aluminum intake, a slightly oversized camshaft, and a Holley 750 double pumper carburetor.
The car has been completely gone through and EVERYTHING works as it should. All interior lights, back up lights, horn, etc. all work. This car needs nothing. The bucket seat interior is stunning in white. The car has everything right and where it should be including factory seat belts. We also added a vintage style sound system with a modern touch. This digital stereo fits correctly in the dash and has bluetooth so you can crank up your favorite tunes!
We DO have the factory wheels (painted black) and the original XL spinner style hub caps the do go with the car. I LOVE the brand new set of polished slots wrapped in new raised white letter tires that we chose for this car. Slightly dished in the rear, they give a real 60\'s feel to the look of this awesome machine.
Like I said EVERYTHING is new on the car. From the show quality new chrome bumpers, to the fresh black paint, exhaust, brakes, door seals, you name it, it has been replaced. Find another one this nice with a 4 speed, I challenge you!
