For sale is a very rare and original 1964 LeMans with fulldocumentation as described below. It was optioned from the factory like a\"junior GTO\" with a four speed Muncie M-20 trans, simulated woodsteering wheel, spinner hubcaps, factory 3.08:1 ratio rear axle andsurprisingly a Pontiac inline 6 cylinder engine. The car is tagged and runsgreat, but ready for the next enthusiast to take to the next level.It was purchased from the original owner inPhoenix, AZ and subjected to a father/son restoration in 2008 for the son to drive to high school and college in Flagstaff, Arizona. The car wasrepainted and mechanically reconditioned. Although not perfect, the car wasshown in local events and was very nice. Unfortunately, in 2011 the car wasinvolved in a front-end accident. After that, we replaced the hood, grills,core support, fender and various other parts and the car sits as you see itnow. It\'s running terrific once again and driven locally on a regular basis. Itis ready for someone else to paint and restore it to its former glory.This is an exceptionally well-documented 1964LeMans built at the Fremont, California assembly plant on July 28, 1964, verylate in the model year, and delivered to Louis Frahm Pontiac in Downey,California. The factory-installed options make this a very rare car. Few weremanufactured with a 6 cylinder and a four speed transmission. Only 1,019 of the1964 LeMans\' were built with a California-emissions 6 cylinder (block code 81Z)and a manual transmission, including the more common three speed manuals. Thenumber of four speed cars, like this one, is unknown but is much lower. After over 40 years of collecting GTOs I\'ve never seen another LeMans like this. Addingthe other options makes this car extremely rare, perhaps one of a kind. It isnumbers matching.The car had one previous owner! It has less than90,000 original miles. The engine, transmission, shifter, rear end, etc. areall factory originals. Even the single exhaust system is original Pontiacparts! The original Rochester one barrel carburetor and intake were replacedwith a period-correct Offenhauser aluminum intake manifold and Holley 390 cfmcarburetor to enhance performance and that really made the car fun to drive.All the original induction equipment: one barrel carburetor/intake components includingthe California emission air cleaner go with the car.Plenty of factory documentation come with thecar including dealer invoice, Protec-to-plate, PHS paperwork, receipts,original dealer license plate frame etc. The car has been in southernCalifornia and Arizona all its life but does has some minor surface rust issuesin the trunk and a few small areas on the outside. The underbody/frame is soundw/o rust and drives straight. There is a hairline crack in the block near oneof the motor mounts but that could be repaired with block solder that comeswith the car. The upholstery along the back seat has sun damage and included insaleare reproduction black vinyl seat covers. Also included is a period correctaftermarket vacuum gauge. Up to date maintenance on vehicle. Factory wiring harnesss: not butchered wires to deal with.Factory-installed options: all prices aremanufacturers suggested retail price. Base price of a LeMans hardtop was$2,626.75 and total option cost (using sums of basic and mirror groups) was$430.70
