1965 RED Ford MustangConvertible, 289 V8 Engine Code A, 4 Speed Top Loader, 4 Piston Caliper brakes, and Power top.Selling at "No Reserve"
Life is short! It's time to finally treat yourself to the muscle car you've always wanted. It's time to enjoy life top down cruising while you can. If you have been looking for that muscle car investment then this Rare Classic Muscle Car Convertible just may have your name on it! These muscle cars have incredible investment potential, and have been referred to as rolling bank accounts. Remember, when the top goes down the price goes up!This is not your everyday Mustang, This is not your Grandpa's Mustang. Not only does this Mustang have a V8 289, It is a "A CODE" Engine. Which had 50 more horsepower than the regular 289. Backed with a 4 speed Manual Top loader Trans. It comes with Rally Pac Gauges. You can stop all these Ponies with 4 piston caliper brakes, Which was a factory upgrade on this vehicle. Back in 1965 they only made 5,338 body code 76B, Which was a convertible with Luxury Interior. To get this engine/ Trans/ Brake/ Gauge setup.. You usually only see in a Coupe GT, or Fastback GT. To the best of my knowledge.. you could not order a convertible in a GT. So, it was ordered to be optioned with an upgraded GT package, ordered with a power top, and the color is Rangoon Red. I've never seen another one like this in person, and who knows how many are left..
This is your opportunityto own a part of history, and bring back memories of better days, and make new ones when you drop the top, and take it for a cruise with your family and friends on those gorgeous summer days.
This vehicle belonged to an older man which I was told purchased this vehicle from Georgia back in 1985. The owner drove this car only when the weather was nice, and he would take it to car shows with his family. This was his pride and joy, and he always kept it in the garage.Unfortunately, He is no longer able to drive it, and his wife is the POA. We have a clean WI title signed by his wife, and POA letter. I am selling this vehicle to help them out.
The interior is done in a beautiful RED which was the original trim code color. It was restored many years ago with new carpet, dash pad, Front and Rear seat covers, and Doorpanels. Which are all in great condition, and might show just some minor wear.Paint work for the interior is very nice. But, shows some small flaws. The original A.M. Radio appears to work good, along with the speakers. Speedometer gauge works good, along with the temp gauge, andtachometer. Fuel gage seems to beintermitted, and is probably nothing more than a simple sensor. The sensor is an easy fix, and the clock does not work. But, who needs to know the time while driving this beautiful machine..The oil and alternator indicator lights work as they should. The 2 speed power wipers work on both speeds, along with thecigarette lighter. The heater and controls appear to work as they should. Moving between the vents and moving from hot to cold, and the blower seems to work on all speeds. It has good heat. There is a owners manual located in glove box.
The power top works great up and down, The motor appears to be strong, Sounds healthy while running and theHydraulicsdo not leak. Top was replace a long time ago, with a new rear window replaced recently. The rear window is clear to see through as you can see in the pictures. The fabric for the top seems to be in great shape! Still is a brilliant bright white color. Frame appears to be in good shape.. I have moved the top up and down a few times and it appears to work great, and lines up nicely to the window, and locks in place nicely.
Windows roll up and down well, and appear to be in good shape and clean. I didn't notice any cracks and are believed to be the original glass. Both doors open and close like a dream, and the door locks work on both doors. Lock Cylinders work with the keys as well. The trunk and hood both open and close with no issues.Includingthe lockcylinderin the trunk. The trunk is equipped with a trunk mat, a spare tire, and matching cover, and matching tool pouch. The dash shows 25,512 miles on it. It is unknown if these are the actual mileage. There is apossibility the it has rolled over once before. There are 4 seat belts in the car to make sure you and your family are safe on those nights to the drive in theater.
The tires have a lot of tread on them and have awesome white walls to compliment the beautiful red paint job. The tires are old but are holding air like new. The car will look great rolling down the street, and would make anyone proud to own it. You can drive it as is, or you can restore it to tip top shape if you'd like. But either way.. You will be the envy of the neighborhood. The rims are in good shape, and have what appear to be the original stainless Mustang hub caps with iconic spinners. All hub caps look like they are in good condition, and are not missing.
This stunning mustang is equipped with manual brakes and factory 4 piston calipers up front. The pads and rotors appear to be in good working condition. But wouldrecommendhaving the vehicle looked over by a professional, as the car has been sitting in a garage for many years. The rear brakes are drum brakes, and appear to be working as they should. The brake petal feels firm, and stopped the vehicle nicely. I have not used the parking brake. I just put it in gear when I park. I am unsure how well it works.
The steering and suspension appear to be good. I only drove the car for a short time around a few blocks. But, the steering was smooth. I did not notice any noise, and it felt tight. Steering appeared to work as it should, and returned nicely after turns, which made me believe the alignment is good.
Engine starts up with no issues, and sounds good. The car ran and drove great during the short drive. Oil and coolant look great! I do not believe it leaks anything due to no drips on the floor. But, again.. I would have it looked over by a professional. I believe the tune- up is very old. Still says motorcraft on the wires, and stumbles here and there. It does not overheat, and has not at all since it's been here. We haven't had any issues moving the vehicle around. The engine has more than enough power, and sounds mean. The exhaust has rust and still has a single exhaust like it did from factory. I would put true duals on if it were my car. But, Hey that's me! either way.. it sounds great, and is a true head turner!
The transmission slides through all gear effortlessly. It has no funny noises. Forward and reverse work as they should. The clutch seems to work like it should. I did not hear any noises and the pedal moves smoothly. I am not sure the age of the clutch but in my personal opinion.. I do not think it needs one. You can drive this car as it is now and love it, or you can go through and restore what you'd like to give it your own personal touch or that hundred point restoration. The rear end appears to work fine, and I heard no noises.
The headlights are both bright, and work well. The dimmer switch switches the headlights both between high beam and low beam. The running lights are all working around the car. Brake lights are working. There was a few bad connections. But, They've been repaired. It's a common issue on classics. But, The brake lights are functioning as they should, and are nice and bright. The turn signals are functioning like they should and on all 4 corners. Even the indicator on the dash lights up and flashes with the turn signals. Interiors lights turn on and off with the door.

Note: This value does not represent a 100 point show car or a #1 vehicle. Those vehicles can reach much higher prices.
Nada has the average condition value at$54,450which theyconsider in good overall condition that could be an older restoration or a well maintained original vehicle that is completely operable.
