Vehicle Description:
Calling all GreenHornet fans, here is your chance for your very own Black Beauty. This is a greatlooking and driving Imperial Crown. It is about an 10 year old restoration,with an estimated 10,000 miles on the rebuilt 440 V8 engine and torqueflitetransmission. The black paint looks good with a few defects showing its age(see photos on website). The hood, trunk and doors open and close very solid. Itappears to have its original quarter panels and trunk pan, so I would assumeall other sheet metal as well. We have not bothered to check to see if it isthe original engine, but were told to expect it was replaced when rebuilt. The engine, transmission and rear end were completely rebuilt. The The engine does have a performance cam and some other light performance work and the rear end was completely rebuilt with a 741 case 8.75\" limited slip POSI with 3:55 gear and replacement heavy duty axles, all near bearings and seals. Thiscar is a factory AC car, with separate rear air unit. The front a/c underhood equipment was removed in preparation for an aftermarket install that was never done, the rear a/c equipment is all there.
This car just as it is now starts right up and drives great! Everything seemsto be working correctly except for the gauges and AC. It has a deep rumble through thedual flowmaster exhaust and cruises easy, letting out a roar when you open the throttle.It will accelerate quickly considering its size. The engine is powerful buteasily controllable and has a very smooth idle for just enjoying a countrydrive. The 3spd transmission operates properly and I have driven this car at70mph without any issues. Lots of nice options, leather bench seats, lap belts,cigar lighter. It has an AM/FM radio and CD player, original working powerantenna. It has power windows which we are told were all rebuilt with nurelic modernmotors & mechanisms. They work fine but some make a little noise when goingup and the rears can get a little out of alignment and need final adjusting. Wehave found it best to roll up the fronts first to keep the rear in line better.The car even retains its working factory power vent windows! The car hasfactory power steering and factory power brakes as well. All engine accessories are new and the power brakes were rebuilt last year including a new master cylinder. The front brakes havebeen converted to disc, making driving more enjoyable. The state inspection and registration is current. A very great looking, greatdriving classic!Tires are great with deep tread on aftermarket 20” American Racing wheels.Massive305/50/20 tires in the rear and 275/45/20 in the front for a healthy contactpatch.Thetrim is all in pretty good original condition with very few dings but thebumpers have some denting (see photos on the website). This car has been storedindoors in a private collection but was driven regularly. All of the glass is good and works well. Thebody panels are showing some signs of age with slight bubbling or blistering around the rearlower quarter and in a few places around the decklid (see photos on website) but still look better than most local show cars you will see, many years of life left. The steering wheel is an aftermarket woodgrain wheel in like new condition andthe horn operates properly. The interior is in great shape, looks new. The seatsappear near mint and very soft and comfortable for a long cruise. The gaugeswork but the gauges do not appear to be accurate and will need some work whichwe can help with. We will be trying to get the gauges rebuilt as the auction isrunning and if we do will update the auction and reserve price. All of the lightsall work, but the reverse lights are on a toggle switch next to the steeringcolumn as we were told the original reverse switch for the transmission is no longer available. It also has a power trunk release button using the original powertrunk release mechanism. The front turn signal lenses are missing, though weare having some new ones made. The car does not have its original wiring, itappears to be a painless wiring harness.The rocker panel trim has been removed, but we did acquireit with the car and it will go to the new owner. The previous owner had it removed because he thought it looked better without.The door weather stripping is in OK conditionwith some cracking and weathering, the roofrails were replaced when rebuilt. The car runs and drives great. The entire front end was also rebuilt, center link, idler arm, control arms, ball joints, tie rod ends, radius rods,... everything in 2016. Also rebuilt/replaced was the center carrier bearing and they built a new driveshaft with new u-joins. Itis a large car so has a little ‘float’ as you might expect from a 60’s landbarge but is easily manageable. I have driven it for testing and pleasure andit is a lot of fun and gets plenty of attention. The car has no mechanicalproblems that we can find. We replaced the water pump, alternator and powersteering pump as soon as we got the car as preemptive maintenance. This car is not old and worn out like the others you see for sale in the $10,000-$15,000 range. The owner invested nearly $40,000 in the rebuilding of this car over several years, and that is what it would take for you to duplicate it. We areconfident that you could drive this car anywhere. This car also comes with acool matching Black Beauty keychain so you dont forget which car the keys goto.The car comes equipped with an onboard batterytender to plug in during storage so you never have to worry about your battery inthe event you cannot drive the car regularly.
If you are looking for 60’s luxury, you cant do better than the Imperial. Morepowerful and reliable than a Lincoln, and Americas last true hand built luxurycar to rival Rolls Royce. Check out the aircraft-throttle interior door handles.The space-aged window controls, not the mention the forest of woodgrain &chrome surrounding you from the dash to the door panels.
