Up for auction is a 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback GT. This is anoriginal Candy Apple Red GT factory big block S-code 390. It comes with a MartiReport and it has the factory buck tag and the factory data plate stillattached.
This Mustang had one repaint a few years ago. The paint hasbeen wet sanded and buffed and is super slick and looks great. It was told tome and as far as I can tell it is all original sheet metal including floorpans. The body is straight. The chrome and brightwork are excellent however thedoor handles do have a small amount of pitting on them. The quarter windowframes also have some pitting on them. All lights, markers, license platelight, and turn signals including hood blinkers work. The wipers and the flooractivated windshield squirters work as well. The stance on the car is factoryand has not been altered.
The interior is mostly original with the exception being thecarpet. The interior is in very good condition for original as you can see inthe many pictures. There is a small tear in the piping on the driver’s seat anda small tear in the headliner and ill show both in the pictures. The radio isnot the original and it has aftermarket speakers in the rear. All the gaugesand interior lights work. The doors shut nice and tight however there is somewear on the driver’s door hinge (slight little pop at the hinge) that you canfeel when opening and closing wide.
The engine is not the original 390 that came in the carhowever it is a 1968 model 390 block (date code is off 5 days) after theoriginal build date on the car. This motor was completely rebuilt a coupleyears ago with high performance parts including big cam, Edelbrock Performeraluminum heads and intake. It has a 750 carburetor and big aluminum radiator.The engine & drivetrain runs and performs excellent in every way. It isstrong and its fast. It runs cool, idles perfectly, shifts just like it shouldand there are no issues. The engine is tuned and was tuned by one of the best.I had the car completely gone through and serviced and it is ready to go andneeds nothing that I know of whatsoever.
