Up for auction is this VERY cool 1969 Pontiac Catalina Convertible.

I know very little about this car - I bought it for a project, but thought I\'d list it here before I start tearing into it.

Here\'s what I do know:

The good:

Car has a clean and clear CA title in my name, and is currently registered.

V-8, 2-bbl, automatic transmission, dual exhaust.

Car was never equipped with A/C - if it gets hot, drop the top!

Car has Rally II rims with PMD center caps, tires have plenty of tread

Has a new radiator, new alternator, new battery (from Costco), new dual exhaust from the exhaust manifolds to the rear bumper (has a rumble, but not to loud). See pics.

Engine looks to have had some work done on it - not just a rustoleum rebuild. I have no evidence to back this up.. just a guess from nosing around under the hood. There is some RTV along the valley panand intake.

Convertible top is in good shape - Glass back window, no rips or holes in top, and it goes up and down fine. Switches in the dash are a little hokey, but they do work

Interior is in decent shape - only real bad part is the drivers side headrest, which one side is sun baked and flaking. The rest is good for a driver, dash padhas no cracks, carpet is a little faded, but still decent.

All 4 Power Windows go up and down as they should.

Power Antennae does not seem to work, but it could be because of an aftermarket stereo that\'s been installed.

Car has front power disc brakes.

Car has had it\'s points distributor converted to HEI.

The bad:

A previous owner installed a bunch of speakers. The door panels and rear panels have speakers in them, there are extra speakers and an amp in the trunk. Aftermarket stereo is in the stock radio spot

Car looks good in photos, but it does have hail damage - especially on the hood and trunk lid. I\'ve found replacement parts locally (craigslist / Franks Pontiac Parts), so it\'s not a huge problem as Pontiac made a LOT of full size cars to source parts from. If I was going to keep the car, I\'d swap the hood and trunk lid.

For a southern CA car, it does have some rust and bondo - trunk lid, doors, etc. It\'s probably not bad if you\'re from anywhere else in the country.. but we\'re spoiled here in CA

Car had been sitting for MONTHS before I got it. I changed the oil, bought a battery, and fired it up. It starts shockingly well, but does have a miss, and a lifter ticking (sound like #2 cylinder). Seems to smooth out when driving. I did drive it home 25 miles after buying itwithout an issue.

All in all - it\'s a solid project car that needs a little love to get it to the next level. If you\'re local, I may entertain trade offers(65-73 Pontiac, 70-72 Nova, 64-72 Chevelle, 70-73 Camaro). Iprefer muscle cars (bonus points for manual transmissions) or 64-72 short bed Chevy trucks (step sides a plus).
