Up for sale is a 1981 Oldsmobile 98 Regency with a 5.7 Diesel and 3 speed auto trans. I purchased this \"unicorn\" from the original owner who took supreme care of it. Having only 87,800 original miles, this genuine survivor is very well preserved for its age having only minor imperfections on the body and paint. I took as many photos as I could of these areas, so bidders can zoom in and see as much of the car as possible. There is absolutely no rust on this car and it has been garaged for its entire life. The car underwent an anti rust treatment when in left the dealership in 1981(see pic of driver\'s door jamb), and was never driven in the snow and salt. This Olds runs and drives excellent. In fact, the diesel started right up on a 45 degree morning after sitting for 5 months over the winter.
This car is a lot of fun to drive and rides like a sofa. It always gets a lot of attention out on the road. Hearing the diesel has always filled me with a sense of nostalgia having grown up riding with my Grandfather in his diesel Buickback in the 80s.
This is a very well maintained car that and has never leaked a drop of oil on my garage floor. The engine oil was just changed this spring and the car is ready to drive away. All of the many lights and power options in the car work perfectly. The only features of this car that are not in perfect working order are AC (blows warm) and the fuel gauge is not 100% accurate. I never tried to recharge the AC, so that could be all it needs.
All of the original owners manuals and shop manuals are included with the car (see pics). There are also spare filters, glow plugs belts, as well as a spare Delco am/fm radio with cassette.
Cosmetically, the car is in really excellent original condition having only minor defects which can be seen in detail in the photos: The plastic bumper fillers need attention (cracked/paint wrinkled). The headliner sags a little bit due to the age of the adhesive, but the material is in good shape. The vinyl top is in great shape and shines like new. There is a tiny nick (about the size of a pen tip) on the top, which is so insignificant, it is difficult to see to even zoomed in on the photo. I feel that these are small repairable cosmetic details that only can be seen upon close inspection. I mention these because I want bidders to know exactly what they are getting here; a car that is in excellent original condition, but not a museum piece. I take my positive seller feedback rating on Ebay very seriously and want to ensure that the new owner of this Olds is completely satisfied with their purchase!
I have done my absolute best to describe the car as accurately as possible, but if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me and I will be happy to answer. Zero feedback bidders must contact me prior to bidding or else bids will be promptly rejected. Thank you for your interest in this rare footnote in American automotive history! Happy Bidding!
