This Imperial was last driven in 1993. I hit a deer that jumped in front of the car while driving on the freeway, crushing the front clip, and bending the hood. It was still drivable after hitting the deer, but I garaged the car with the intention of fixing it. I bought a clean front clip and hood, but never got around to replacing the damaged parts.

At that time I had another 1983 Imperial (long since sold). If you are familiar with the history of the 1981 through 1983 Imperials, you may know that this was Chrysler\'s first fuel injected car. The electronic fuel injection system was buggy, causing drivability issues with the car. As this car was garaged, I swapped some of the fuel injection components between my two Imperials in order to attempt to troubleshoot the drivability issues with the other Imperial. That is why the 318 V8 in this car is missing its throttle body.

The instrument panel is an all electronic digital display, so the odometer cannot be viewed without 12 volts of electrical power. I did connect a battery charger to the battery terminals, in order to read the odometer, but the odometer only displayed a row of digital 8s (888888). It appears that the motor must be running to get an actual milage readout from the odometer. To the best of my recollection, the milage on the car at the time I stopped driving it was, between 70,000 and 80,000 miles.

The 1983 Imperial is a luxury car, with the expected standard luxury items. Power windows, power locks, fully reclining power seats, leather upholstery, tilting steering column, decorative alloy mag wheels. This car also has the optional power moon roof.

The body is solid with some light surface rust, and the left rear bumper is pushed in. The bumper is intact, but the left rear impact absorbing piston is pushed in.

Included with this Imperial are the replacement front clip and hood.

Today, the 1981 through 1983 Chrysler Imperials are considered Collectable / Classic cars. Very few of these cars were built. The total production run for all three years is 12,385. The fewest Imperials were built for the 1983 model year, with a production run of only 932 cars.
