1974 Camaro Z28

Absolutely beautiful exampleof this classic car. There were 151,008 camaros produced in 1974. Only 13,802 wereZ28\'s and of those only 6,978 were ordered with the stripe package. This isone.

Recently repainted in originallight gold metallic color, ORIGINAL engine, ORIGINAL turbo 400 automatic transmission. ORIGINALrear axle code “CG” which is 3.73:1. Engine completely disassembled andrebuilt. Only a few hundred miles on rebuilt engine. Original Rochester quadrajetcarburetor just rebuilt. Runs and drivesexcellent.

Car has been extremely welltaken care of as is evidenced by how tight it drives, brakes, steers, etc. I bought the car with the metal work alreadydone by a shop. It only needed patch panels in the typical places, bottom fewinches of rear quarters and rear corners of front fenders. The floor pan is alloriginal and rust free except for one 12 inch square under rear seat that hadto be replaced. Paint is base coat clear coat in Dupont and as you can see bythe pictures, looks great. New sillplates, new Camaro emblem on rear panel, new decal set, new front grill.

1974 was the last year forthe high output 350 engine and the Z28 option until it returned in 1977. It wasrated at 245 horsepower. Last year for the small back window (1975 went to awrap around style).

Interior is in excellentoverall condition. No rips or tears in any of the seats. Headliner is notripped or torn either, but has slight bow in one section that is not verynoticeable. Original dash is in good condition with no cracks whatsoever.Console has wear marks where the seatbelts rubbed and is cracked on bottomcorner of shift plate bezel, otherwise in good shape.

Tires are like new condition.

I would describe the overallcondition of this car as a great driver that you would be proud to take tolocal cruise nights or show n shines. With a tiny of bit of work, you could place well at local shows. (rubberaround trunk and doors should be replaced if showing car, otherwise it isfunctional, just original and not perfect) Aluminum bumpers are original andhave some minor scratches and minor pitting. Not noticeable unless you are up closeand inspecting it. Rocker panel moulding is original and shows its age, butconsidering how far down it is on the car, its not very noticeable either.

These small things don’tdetract from how great it looks and how much FUN it is to drive and enjoy. I amjust trying to represent the car accurately. There are not a lot of nice 1974 Z28’s around, especially ones with all original drivetrains. This is the one to get from aninvestment perspective. You know it will only appreciate in value every year.

Engine rebuild details:

NO overbore was necessary! Odometer is showing29,000 miles, which I would expect is 129,000 miles based on the fact that theengine was in such good shape. New crank bearings, rod bearings, cam bearings, double roller timing chain set, high volume oil pump, lifters, camshaft, crankshaft polished, cylinder walls polished, new piston rings, New water pump.Engine compartment detailed and painted when engine was out.

New radiator , new heater core, new heaterhoses, radiator hoses, new transmission fluid.

I have owned this car for 4years and planned to keep it but need an “everyday” car replacement so thismust regrettably be sold.

I have pictures of all theengine and heads numbers and really cool pictures of the original grease pencilmarkings on the block. One is an ink stamp in large letters showing the “CLK”which means Z28. This code is also stamped into the block as well.

Engine pad numbers: 14N191823

V0409CLK

Rear of block stamped 3970010

#’s on heads 333882, C104 and C124 on other head.

Rear axle is theoriginal with a 3.73 ratio.
