OEM Performance/Slap Shifter
With Rechromed Shifter Lever - No Top Plate
This listing is for an Original Equipment GM REBUILT Center Console Performance/Slap Shifter for a 1969-1972 Pontiac GTO, Lemans, or Tempest that is equipped with a center console andthree speed (350/400) automatic transmission. It has been COMPLETELY REBUILT. The shifter housing has been zinc coated and the shifter lever has been RE-CHROMED!
This shifter DOES NOT include the console top plate that mounts to the underside of the console. Click >>HERE<< to purchase the shifter WITH the console top plate.
It\'s an original equipment option that came with the high-performance models and is a stock factory option that bolts in using the original hardware, trim, and shifter cable. It\'s one of the easiest upgrades you can make to your car! Here\'s how it works. It has the ratchet-like feature that allows you to go from first to second gear, then from 2nd to third (drive) gear without accidentally skipping gears or sliding into neutral. Simply push or \"Slap\" the shifter lever to the right and forward, it will only slide from one gear up and lock into place. If done again it will slide to the next gear and lock into place again.
It has been completely disassembled, cleaned, worn or damaged pieces replaced, glass beaded, clear coated, reassembled, and lubricated and works like a brand new shifter. The shifter lever itself has been RE-CHROMED and is in show quality condition. The shifter housing has been zinc coated and is in very good condition, with the typical light pitting, but cannot be seen when installed. Would give it a 9.5 out of 10 rating for performance and all viewable (when installed) areas. A great finishing touch to any restoration.
