Up for your consideration is this Improved Heavy Duty Door Stop Plate or Arm and Hardware Kit for 1957 to 1966 Imperials. The arm in this kit is the best that is available. It is heavy duty and made from a high carbon alloy steel that has been professionally heat treated to the proper hardness and tensile strength.Mopar issued two versions of this part to fit the same hinge... one thinner and an improved thicker one. This part is the same thickness as the thicker one. It will fit all hinges that originally had either the thinner or the thicker plate installed at the factory. It's also the exact same shape as the original plate which is important to insure that it functions properly. Also included is a push nut retainer for the rivet to help make your installation easier. This kit includes one door stop plate or arm, one rivet, one rivet push nut, two wave washers, one spring and full detailed instructions for how to replace the door stop without the need to remove the door from the car. The wave washers arecorrect... the same as originally installed at the factory on each side of the door stop plate. They keep the arm centered in the opening and prevent it from rattling. The springhas the hooks turned 90 degrees from each other just as the original did, for correct installation and performance. The door stop plate measures approximately 6" long by 2" wide. THIS IS THE BEST KIT THAT IS AVAILABLE.If you need the long rivet and roller that the stop arm rides on please see my other listings. I sell that separately because it's common for those two parts to still be good so please check to make sure you need them. They usually only need cleaning and lube.The arm corresponds with Mopar part number 2520341. These parts are necessary to hold the door open at the halfway point and the full open point. When it's broken it will cause the door to close on your leg when getting in or out of the car. It is common for the original one to be broken.All in all this is the best kit that is available... a very high quality improvement of the factory part. Only a limited amount of these are available.
