Up tonight is a single 1938 or 1939 Packard Super 8 Eight Headlamp Bucket assembly in 99.8% restored condition. Paint is near 100%. AMPM logo stamping clear and sharp. One-piece stainless steel trim, and mounting hardware, intact.
Paint most likely urethane or polyurethane. Black. Single stage from what I can tell. Color sanded and polished. Light scuffs from the plastic bag storage.
Two scrapes in the lower left and right bottom mount edges (might have been prop ups points for paint) down to the primer. 3 very faint dimples on the lower right mounting area (up 1/2 inch near the edges of the mount) otherwise superb paintwork. No ripples, waves or sandscratches.16-1/4 inches in length. 7-1/2 inches diameter (across to trim ring edges).
Stainless trim is 99.6%. No cracks or distortions. There are 3 dimples on the Right side section (looking straight on) #1 is about 1/3 of the way down to the tapered end, on the bottom. 2 smaller dings, 3/4 of the way down on the top edge. (close pics) Has been polished.
The Left hand side trim has 1 dent on top edge, about 2 inches from the opening. 2 other dings on left side, very very small, one on the top edge, one on the bottom. about 3/4 way back (i think pics should show them)
Mount bolt (and inner welded retainer tab) fits snugly in the socket. Flat, locking washer, and mount nut, undamaged. Threads in good shape.
Some light rust on baseplate (inside) in seam against mount.
I like to see lots of Photos when listing, but if I missed something. Let me know. Can shoot more, and zip them your way.
So it came from a local independent repair/resto shop in Oceanside, CA., where I worked in the 90's. The original owner had the only shop here in North San Diego County at that time that repaired Packards. Went back to the 1940s as I remember. Everything Packard. (and others) Really amazing. Best job ever.
Long story short, shop had to close for financial reasons, and I essentially got paid, in parts, in the end.-
and so have many, many, other parts coming up for sale. Check some out at my Ebay Store: Chucks Vintage Auto Parts Cheers All. Chuck
