For sale: a pair of quality remanufactured Ford GT40P cylinder heads that\'ll fit any 289, 302 small block Windsors (will also fit 5.8L/351 Windsor blocks once the head bolt holes are simply drilled out to 1/2 inch to accept the larger bolts that the 351 blocks use), most commonly swapped into the 79-95 302/5.0L mustangs and 5.0L/5.8L F-150s for a huge performance upgrade especially when compared to the lousy performing stock E7 heads those vehicles came with. Will also work in any 50s, 60s and 70s small block Windsor powered vehicle.

FACT:

*GT40P heads offer a significant increase in HP and Torque over all the stock castings Ford ever designed and even some cheap aluminum Chinesecastings.

*GT40P heads are a new revised/redesigned head of the older Cobra/Lightening/Explorer GT40 iron heads and the GT40X aluminum heads. The outcome is a head that has higher velocity due to better air volume swirl thanks to a new and smaller 58-60cc combustion chamber design, valve design, size and angle and a revised spark plug location angle making for a vastly improved and efficient combustion which translates into more power, especially at low to mid range.

*Due to this afore mentioned design of the \"P\" heads they outflow and outperform the E7, GT40 iron, GT40 aluminum and many other heads, especially at low to mid range where MOST people drive at.

*Because these are cast iron they\'re stronger and more reliable than most aluminum heads, especially for those running boost from either NOS, turbos and/or blower set ups and these heads will resist the cracking/warping and blowing head gaskets that is more common with aluminum heads, especially the cheaper Chinese heads.

These are the actual pictures of these heads, they\'reOEM Ford that came off of a running/driving 5.0 Explorer. The heads went to the machine shop, were completely disassembled, hot tanked, cleaned, pressure tested, bead blasted, performance valve job performed, new seals installed and the mounting surface was machined for a perfectly flat surface and fit then the heads were reassembled and thoroughly inspected. So the heads are fresh from the machine shop, sprayed with WD-40 and packaged in thick clear bags and stored in a a climate controlled room to control any possible corrosion since they\'re bare cast.

*If so desired by customer, we can send these to the paint shop and have them professionally painted with high temp engine enamel (color of choice) for an extra $50. This will obviously delay shipping by a few more days.

*We can also do other custom work like:

- cut/enlarge the valve seats to accept larger valves

- install larger valves (even though I wouldn\'t recommend it unless porting is done)

- install stainless steel Ferrera valves (for boosted or marine applications)

- mill the heads .010, .020, .030+ for higher compression if so desired.

Here\'s a little history lesson on these heads in case you didnt know:

These are the famous and now rare 1998-2001Ford GT40 \"P\" 302 5.0L 4 Bar Cylinder Heads. These are the absolute best flowing and performing cylinder head that Ford EVER designed and built for a production 302/5.0L engine and they did so towards the end of the production line of the 5.0L engine which by \'98 it was only in the Explorer.

Like mentioned above, the 98-01 GT40P heads are better flowing and performing than the older regular 93-97 GT40 heads found on the 93 Cobra, 93-95 Lightening and 95-97 Explorer, which also outflowed everythingbefore them, BUT in 1997 Ford needed something even better to make enough power to offset the latest power robbing emissionsregulationsthat get stricter every year as well asgas mileage expectations of the soccer mom\'s buying these at the time. So FordHADto redesign the GT40 head, which is when this special edition GT40 \"P\" version was born. Designed to be used along side the famously high performance and high flowing GT40 intake, larger throttle body and MAF (that were all already designed and used on the limited production Cobra,Lightening and now current Explorer)to flow enough volume of air to be able to produce enough HP/torque to offset the power robbing detuning.

So, along with this amazingly high flowing top end (heads, intakes, TB and MAF) Ford used a power robbing lame camshaft, small timing curve, DIS ignition, small 19lb fuel injectors, bigger catalytic converters and etc. So don\'t let the advertised conservative HP rating of the Explorer fool you! These make impressive power, so much more than what was advertised on the production Explorer and it\'s been dyno proven time and time again and posted on the web.

The most noteworthynaturally aspiratedhorsepower and torque gains are noticed of close to 100 HP/TQ over the stock 302/5.0L advertised power output of 225hp when combined with the typical performance set up that most people already have on their 79-95 5.0L mustangs and F-150s like astock distributerable to be advanced (Ford did away with the tunable 86-95 mustang distributor on the Explorer and designed a DIS ignition), a performance intake like the GT40, Explorer/Cobra GT40 (cast version), or a comparable performance intake like the Holley systemax, an aftermarket performance camshaft like one of the FMS cams, Trick flow cams, Comp cams and etc), 24lb/hr injectors, 65mm (or larger) TB and MAF these heads will shock you with the HP and TQ gains!

However, if you don\'t have any or all of these supporting parts, don\'t worry the heads will still make very noticeable power!

I\'vebuilt plenty of 5.0L and 5.8L engines using these heads as my base power starting point and tested out a plethora combinations of supporting parts including just the stock mustang top end and they all made incredible power, but of course the max power output is observed when all the supporting parts are used together.

And seriously never waste your money on buying new supporting performance parts when ALL of the supporting parts needed to produce max power can easily be found USED AND FOR CHEAP here on ebay as well as on all of the mustang and F-150 forums. I even have a couple Explorer GT40 intakes and 65mm TBs that I\'ll eventually post here on ebay when I get a chance.

*Do your research, there\'s a plethora of literature online about the Explorer GT40 \"P\" heads, the older Cobra/Explorer GT40 heads (93-97), the aftermarket aluminum GT40 heads and how well they all perform, BUT also how much better these \"P\" version of these heads out performed them all especially through the low to mid range numbers where MOST people drive at.
