Replaces: Sequencer Flasher - Stop Lamp Relay - Directional Relay
Application:
1966 Ford T-Bird made after 11/17/1965 (T3 Late Model).
NOTE: Missing 2-pin brown wire connector
On this replacement unit there are 4 connectors. On the original unit there are 5 connectors, the 5thone is a 2-pin brown wire connector that is attached to the original flasher motor. The replacement unit does not have this 2-pin brown wire connector because it is no longer needed. On the car harness side, this connector should be wrapped up using electrical tape.
The two-pin connector was used to feed power to the motor, after the turn signal switch is shut off, to drive the motor around to the start position so when the next time the motor is activated the sequencing would start at the inner most light. The replacement unit does not have a motor so this connection is not necessary. The replacement unit, when the turn signal is switch is shut off, has a built-in circuit that resets the system to start at the inner most light.
NOTE: The difference between the Early 1966 T-Bird and the 1966 Late T-Bird is the brake light relay and harness. The brake light relay is the part mounted on the rubber pad in-between the sequencer and directional relay. Ford used the 1965 parts on the 1966 Early Thunderbird production. The stop lamp relay connector and harness were changed, while the sequencer and directional relay did not. The change took place during the 1966 model production year on 11/17/1965.
The date code on your car and the date code charts are often incorrect. Before you purchase you must determine which unit you need. Remove the rubber pad in the trunk with all the parts still on it and look at the stop lamp relay and it’s harness. Check to see if the stop lamp relay has a three prong or a four-prong connector and if it has three or four wires, If three prongs and three wires then it is a Early model, If it has four wires with a four prong connector then it is a Late model.
If there are three wires and a three-prong connector then it is the early model and you need to purchase a T2) C5SZ-13A366-AS 1966 EARLY Model.
If there are four wires with a flat four-prong plug then it is the late model and you need to purchase a T3) C6SZ-13A366-AS 1966 LATE Model.
